Nite Club is the project of multi instrumentalist Richard Spitzer. Born into a Orthodox Jewish/ Cuban family, music was a natural part of daily life. Trace it back to the salsa-and-mambo-infused family parties or the introspective, soulful prayer at the ultra-Orthodox Hebrew Temple. Music was Spitzer's calling since he was little. It was the diversity of that music which gives Nite Club the exceptionally global appeal.

Richard Spitzer started performing at rave events at 16-years-old. He blossomed as a player with prog rock, punk and live drum n' bass groups using modern classical composition as his backdrop. While being composition classmates with electronic artist Dan Deacon at SUNY Purchase, he pursued a music education and graduated in 2002 with a degree in Studio Composition. Having studied alongside Regina Spector as well, his “musical hero” is French composer Claude Debussy.

Before opening for The Rapture, Jamie Lidell, Lightning Bolt, DJ Oscar G, DJ DB, Kool Keith, and The Locust, he was involved in projects including a drum and bass group called Flight Crew that opened up for The Roots. His performances have led him across the US, Europe and Japan. In Japan, his extended musical family includes of members of j-hip-hop group SBK and the first nu rave / minimal techno band from Japan, The Samos.

As Spitzer continued to DJ raves through college, the influence of electronic music embedded itself into many of his projects, including Nite Club. Following a 2006 EP released in the U.S. and a full-length album only released in Japan on Tokyo's Blackbudget Records, My Tronic was recorded in 2008 from Spitzer's home studio in Brooklyn. With strong pulses and fast dance rhythms, Nite Club stays true to Spitzer's days of performing live jungle. However, the soft vocals and reflective background moods are also likely to appeal to fans of bands like the Album Leaf, Mogwai, and Explosions in the Sky.

“I usually start with an atmosphere," Spitzer says. "I try to create a place or color where I can go. I try to stay focused and try to see how far I can manipulate things inside there. I always try to keep a balance... the whole goal of an album is trying to have a good proportion of sentiment and then release an energy at the same time.”

Showcased in the live setting, Nite Club becomes a collaboration with Osbourne (Ghostly International) drummer Steve Bryant, aka Cru Jonez. Their combined background of live jungle, indie rock and hip hop makes for a upbeat and dreamy atmosphere reminiscent of early 90's UK rave scene.

As a multi-instrumentalist and protege keyboard player, the experiences Richard Spitzer has had - not to mention talent - make Nite Club a phenomenon. The New York night life is his backdrop and his songs shine through the hussle, chaos and the garbage. His production bounces and throbs past the bottle service and the velvet ropes.

“What I want to have is different people to come together -- [to have] different styles and fashions to come together and feel the music itself," Spitzer says. "I kind of think that there's this beauty in every style. That's my ultimate happiness.”
